Oklahoma Extends Arms of Compassion

Moore, OK—Arms of Compassion (ACM), a ministry partner of the Oklahoma State Association, recently teamed up with Step into the Water Ministries and Hillsdale FWB College to complete an addition [pictured below] for a Free Will Baptist church in Abbeville, Louisiana. The church, pastored by Bishop Raymond Captville, belongs to the Western Division of Free Will Baptists, sister organization to the National Association of Free Will Baptists.

After a recent purchase of 20 generators, ACM now has fully-equipped disaster response trailers in Blanchard, Tahlequah, and Ada, Oklahoma. Free Will Baptist Master's Men recently donated an additional trailer that ACM hopes to equip for placement in Northwestern Oklahoma. (Sponsors can purchase a generator for $650, or equip an entire trailer with generators and tools for $5,000).

ACM is a multi-faceted compassion ministry supported totally through donations. In addition to disaster relief efforts, ACM issues compassion grants to needy families; supports compassion ministries around the world (currently Brazil, Mexico, and Romania); and distributes Journey Packs (blanket, pillow, Bible, and care kit) to children facing significant life challenges.

Master’s Men Sponsors Tournaments

Antioch, TN—Twenty-three teams representing eight states participated in the 2009 Master’s Men National Softball Tournament, August 7, 8. The fast-paced tournament was played on fields in Antioch, TN, in sweltering summer temperatures.

Masters Men Director and Tournament Organizer Ken Akers joked, “We picked a couple of hot days for the largest gathering of Free Will Baptists outside of the national convention. Seriously, I appreciate everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to support the ministry of Master’s Men. The theme for the weekend could have been, ‘We didn’t come to lose!’ as there was a record number of extra inning games. Congratulations to our winners.”
