A CALL FOR CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

BLACK MOUNTAIN, NC In January, eight Free Will Baptists attended a special training conference for ministers of education held at the Ridgecrest Training Center.  The 3-day conference was packed with training, networking, and ministry.  The ME Boot Camp was the vision of Dr. Bill Taylor. The ministry began in 2002 with 100 ministers of education and has grown to 400 in 2005.  Dr. Taylor emphasizes the role that ministers of education play as “equippers” in the local church. Many churches have expanded youth ministry to include Christian education.  New Hope FWB Church, Joelton, TN was one of the first to do so. Pastor Barry Simpson saw this area as a vital need in his church.  Steve Lindsay, minister of education at New Hope, says, “ I quickly learned that the difference between minister of youth and minister of education was that my youth ministry started in the nursery.”

The 2005 meeting is scheduled for January 9–13 at Ridgecrest. For more information about the conference contact Keith Kenemer, Randall House Publications, (800) 877-7030 ext. 325 or kkenemer@randallhouse.com.
