Danny Conn NAMED Director of student and children ministries

NASHVILLE, TN Dr. Danny Conn, a leading Florida pastor, educator and editor, has been named Student and Children’s Ministry Director at Randall House Publications, according to CEO Ron Hunter. He begins his new duties September 1, 2006, after 20 years as a Christian educator, youth minister, and pastor in Oklahoma and Florida.

Mr. Hunter said, “We are delighted that a man of Danny Conn’s experience in youth ministry, event management, pastoral leadership, and editorial skills is joining the Randall House team. We are moving into a more sophisticated era for children’s and youth ministry, and he brings the perfect blend of warmth and professionalism to the position.”

Danny’s primary duties will focus on logistical coordination, rather than extensive direct contact with the children and students. He will secure and direct leaders for specific programs, as well as supervise promotions, budgetary matters, and general content.

His responsibilities will include directing the National Youth Conference (NYC), Truth and Peace, and the National YETeam. He will use youth leaders from the field as program coordinators for Truth and Peace as well as the National YETeam. Danny, in concert with the General Director of Randall House, will appoint a National Youth and Children’s Advisory Council for incubation of fresh ideas and strategic planning.

“This new challenge is something that God has been preparing me for educationally and spiritually for several years now,” Danny said. “Serving in Florida with state leaders and pastors, with the Youth Conference and Christian Education Board, and six years as editor of The Co-Ordinator (state paper) has been a crucial element in the preparation process, bringing me in contact with the broader Free Will Baptist work.”

Danny completed his doctorate (Ed.D.) at Pensacola Christian College after earning an M.A. degree at the Free Will Baptist Bible College Graduate School (1984) and a B.A. degree at Hillsdale FWB College (1982).

While in Oklahoma, he served two years as principal of a Christian school in Tulsa, and six years as youth minister in Ardmore. His Florida pastorates include Pleasant Hill FWB Church in Bonifay (1997-2000) and Soul’s Harbor FWB Church in Pensacola (2000-2006).

Danny has been a member of both the Oklahoma Christian Education Board and the Florida Youth Board. He currently chairs Florida’s Christian Ministries Board, and serves on the state Planning Committee and Steering Committee where he organizes and oversees the State Youth Conference and Competition. He participates in a variety of state outreaches and coordinates efforts for Florida’s Disaster Response Team.

He has valuable hands-on experience nationally with NYC, and was Competition Coordinator for the 2006 NYC in Birmingham. He served as Convention Photographer for the National Association of Free Will Baptists (2001-2005), and has written articles for ONE Magazine.
